#relating forests - The final workshop in Norwegian forests
Our european project ‘relating forests’ will reach the third stage of our journey in October 2025 with a week-long workshop in the forests around Ås. Anne-Claire Dromzee and Anne Bouchon from Cultures Eco-Actives, as well as Marianne Cornil and Luzie Ackers from TheatreFragile, will explore various forest areas in collaboration with Rebekka Saeter from our Norwegian partner NOBA – from managed production forests to natural forest areas.
Programme and focus
During the first few days, we will be visited by experts from various fields: experts in Norwegian folk singing, a representative of Norwegian outdoor education and a philosopher. These encounters will form the basis for the artistic research work of the following week.
The focus will be on Norwegian storytelling traditions, ranging from 19th-century national narratives to local myths and fairy tales to traditional folk songs. Special attention will be given to Arne Næss' concept of ‘deep ecology’ and educational approaches such as ‘wild pedagogies’.
Working method and objectives
We will live and work directly in the forest landscape for a week. The focus will be on how forest landscapes can function as ‘co-teachers’ and ‘co-creators’ and how encounters with the living environment can be established and communicated.
Public presentation
The workshop culminates in a ‘hike into dusk’ that is open to local visitors of all ages. During the tour, we will present the materials and experiences from the week in the forest in the form of small encounters and performative elements along the way.
Conclusion and exchange
A joint gathering after the hike provides space for artists, local participants and visitors to exchange experiences and ideas. Here, the insights gained during the week are reflected upon and discussed.
