Mask making and play workshop

#ichduwirzusammen is a workshop format developed for schools (grammar schools, comprehensive schools, primary schools) and nursery schools that invites participants on a journey of discovery through mask play and mask making.
Games from theatre work, which focus on getting to know each other, non-verbal communication and the joy of playing, alternate with the creation of individual masks from residual materials such as cardboard and paper Old things are created into new things and then brought to life.

Cohesion, acceptance, openness and friendship take centre stage for children of primary school age. Nevertheless, some of them often experience what it means to be marginalised. Play brings out the authentic feelings of young people, their vulnerability, their sensitivity and their developing personalities at this age.Cultural education can
make a significant contribution to the personal development of young people. The prerequisite, however, is to open the door to art and culture for all children and young people as early and as widely as possible.
In the workshop, pupils are given the opportunity to express themselves without a voice, to express their desires in the form of a mask and to experience themselves in a group-dynamic process.

Cohesion, acceptance, openness and friendship take centre stage for children of primary school age. Nevertheless, some of them often experience what it means to be marginalised. Through play, the authentic feelings of young people, their vulnerability, their sensitivity and their developing personality at this age come to light. Cultural education can make a significant contribution to the personal development of young people. The prerequisite, however, is to open the door to art and culture for all children and young people as early and as widely as possible.

In the workshop, pupils are given the opportunity to express themselves without a voice, to express their desires in the form of a mask and to experience a group-dynamic process.

The mask allows children to play with their own identity and transform their own appearance. Transforming into an animal, for example, is extremely exciting for children. If they can also wear their own handmade mask, the children not only have fun, but are also proud to have realised their own ideas.

During the workshop, they can slip into different roles and act out situations that concern them in everyday school life. They will change their perspective, develop trust in their classmates and learn how to make friends by playing together.
