#ichduwirzusammen - mask making and play workshop

TheatreFragile visited class 9D at Jahn-Gymnasium Rathenow for a week in November 2021. The 23 pupils learnt how to build masks from old cardboard. TheatreFragile taught the technique and the various steps involved in building these works of art. They worked exclusively with recycled materials - cardboard and other paper packaging material. The pupils were completely free to create their own figures using their own hands and imagination. Completely individual. Sad figures that are always ready to listen, crazy birds that show the way, archaic queens between joy and anger, young and female death, a friendly rhinoceros ... All these contradictions and many more are in the fourteen-year-olds.

We raised questions centred around the topics of solidarity and tolerance. It was about finding your strength, showing your weaknesses, being recognised, asking for help or offering help. However, there was no need for a lot of theory, as the pupils experienced in a very practical way during this special week how unique they are and how much they nevertheless belong together. And how little it takes for creativity to unfold in one another. This project was supported by @plattformkubi Brandenburg.
